Although there are several forms to complete, the application procedure is fairly straightforward and self-explanatory; however I will be happy to advise you if there is anything you are unsure of.
Examples of roles that need a DBS are as follows: Children’s Liturgy Leaders, Eucharistic Ministers who distribute communion in the homes of parishioners, Pilgrimage Volunteers/Leaders, Youth/ Toddler Group Leaders and Catechists.
If you have any safeguarding concerns, you can contact me on the above telephone number. If I am unavailable and it is urgent you can contact the Diocesan Safeguarding Team based at Cathedral House in Brentwood. All their contact numbers are listed on their web-site www.dioceseofbrentwood.net/safeguarding.
Although I represent both the Maldon and Burnham Parish, I attend The Assumption of Our Lady in Maldon, therefore if you attend St Cuthberts and require any advice on safeguarding or applying for a DBS certificate and would prefer to speak to someone within your parish, you can contact Mike Bennett who will pass on any queries you may have.

The Catholic Church is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults to worship and grow in Christ safely.
All those working with children, young people (up to his/her 18th birthday) or vulnerable adults in regulated activities will require a DBS certificate – this applies to both voluntary and paid roles within the church.
If you would like to volunteer to help in the parish and are unsure if you require a DBS certificate then please contact me (your parish safeguarding representative) Mike Bennett. The main Application form can be completed either on line via the eBulk system or by completing a paper copy.
